Shockwave therapy for ED is also called acoustic wave therapy, or Li-ESWT. It uses low-energy sound waves, aimed at blood flow in the treated area. Ours is a focused shockwave system, used here, in our office, in a private room.

Radial shockwave is made by a small part striking the tip of the handpiece. It is strongest at the skin and fades as it spreads, so it reaches only a few centimeters. Focused shockwave is a true shockwave. Its waves come together at a set depth below the skin, so the energy is strongest where it is aimed. Most published research on shockwave for ED used focused or linear devices.
