Medical Weight Loss · Hinsdale, Illinois

Medical weight loss that starts with 61 lab markers, not a questionnaire.

GLP-1 medications can help. What decides whether they help you, and whether any result lasts, is what else is going on underneath: thyroid, insulin, cortisol, lipids, testosterone, sleep. We measure all of it in one 90-minute visit, in our own CLIA-certified lab, before anyone writes a prescription.

On-site CLIA-certified lab Prescriber-managed dosing No subscription required HSA / FSA receipts

Completing an assessment does not guarantee a prescription. All treatment decisions are made by the treating clinician based on your history, evaluation, and applicable standards of care. Adults 18+.

Why we start here

Weight gain is rarely one thing

Appetite and willpower are the two variables everyone starts with. They are seldom the ones that matter most. These are the others, and every one of them is measurable in a single morning.

01

Thyroid function

Sets resting metabolic rate. Hypothyroidism is common, often undiagnosed, and will quietly work against any plan that never checked for it.

02

Insulin resistance

Fasting glucose can read normal for years while fasting insulin climbs. Measuring both shows how hard the body is working to hold that normal number.

03

Sex hormones

Testosterone, SHBG and estradiol shape body composition, recovery and appetite signaling, and how much lean mass survives a period of weight loss.

04

Cortisol & stress load

Chronic stress changes where the body stores fat, how well it sleeps, and how it responds to training. It is measurable rather than assumed.

05

Sleep-disordered breathing

Obstructive sleep apnea is common in adults carrying excess weight and frequently undiagnosed. Untreated, it is associated with poorer metabolic health.

06

Medications & nutrients

Some prescriptions promote weight gain. Low vitamin D, low ferritin and anemia all sap the energy a plan depends on. Both are simple to check.

You cannot guess which of these applies to you, and treating the wrong one costs a year. That is why what you book on this page is the Alpha Performance Assessment: 150+ clinical markers across all six systems in one 90-minute visit, rather than a weight-loss consultation. A GLP-1 medication may well be part of the answer. The assessment is what tells your clinician whether it is, and what else needs attention alongside it.

The process

One visit. Then a clinical protocol you can actually follow.

No 30-day onboarding funnel. No chat-only clinician you never meet.

1

Choose your time

Pick a specific appointment online in under a minute. Nothing is due to book. The $497 is paid at your visit.

  • No card is taken to hold your time
  • Two business days’ notice to cancel or move your visit
  • Assessment is performed at our Hinsdale office. We care for patients located in Illinois
2

The 90-minute assessment

Blood draw on site, body composition on the InBody 970, grip strength, blood pressure, stadiometer. Your hormone panel runs in our lab while you are still in the building.

  • Private, unhurried appointment, not a 12-minute slot
  • Full weight, sleep, medication, and family history taken by a clinician
  • Honest candidacy review, including when a GLP-1 is not the right first move
3

Results reviewed with you the same day

Key findings are walked through with your context in the room: what is driving the number, what it means, and what the realistic options are. Remaining results are incorporated as they return.

  • Written summary of every marker, yours to keep
  • Medication options explained, including side effects and what they cost
  • Nutrition, protein, strength, and sleep targets, the part that decides whether the result holds
4

Treatment, where it's clinically appropriate

If your results and evaluation support it, treatment can begin at the same visit. If they don't, we will tell you that instead, and tell you what to address first.

  • Prescriber-managed titration with scheduled follow-up
  • Labs repeated at clinically appropriate intervals
  • A planned taper and maintenance phase, discussed before you ever start

What gets measured

150+ markers across six systems

Weight is an output. These are the inputs. Each is reviewed against your history and symptoms by a clinician: a number outside a reference range is a question, not a diagnosis.

The at-home sleep study most weight programs skip

Obstructive sleep apnea is common in adults carrying excess weight, and it is frequently undiagnosed. It is also bidirectional: untreated apnea is associated with poorer metabolic health, and weight change can alter apnea severity in either direction. Screening for it before a year-long metabolic plan is simply good medicine.

Add the WatchPAT ONE home sleep test to your assessment. You sleep one night in your own bed. Results are typically available within 24 hours and are reviewed alongside your labs.

  • One night, at home, no sleep lab, no overnight stay
  • Disposable FDA-cleared device, shipped to you
  • Results typically within 24 hours of upload
  • Interpreted with your labs, not in isolation

A home sleep test is a screening tool. It does not diagnose every sleep disorder, and your clinician may recommend an in-lab study instead. The $297 test is paid on a follow-up call before the device ships, and cannot be refunded once it ships.

Important safety information

Weight-loss medications are prescription drugs with real risks

Read this before you book. If any of it applies to you, bring it up at your visit. It changes the recommendation.

Who should not take these medications

GLP-1 receptor agonists such as semaglutide and tirzepatide carry a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors based on rodent studies. They are contraindicated in people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2, and in anyone with a known serious hypersensitivity to the drug or its components. They are not indicated for type 1 diabetes and are not for use during pregnancy or while trying to become pregnant.

Common and serious side effects

  • Common: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, indigestion, fatigue, injection-site reactions. These are most frequent during dose increases and often improve with time and slower titration.
  • Serious but less common: pancreatitis, gallbladder disease including gallstones, acute kidney injury from dehydration, diabetic retinopathy complications, low blood sugar (particularly when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas), and severe gastrointestinal reactions. Loss of lean muscle mass can also occur with rapid weight loss, which is why we track body composition rather than scale weight alone.
  • Seek care immediately for severe or persistent abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, signs of an allergic reaction, or a neck mass, hoarseness, or trouble swallowing.

About compounded medications

The medications prescribed here are compounded preparations from licensed compounding pharmacies, prescribed only where a clinician determines a compounded formulation is clinically appropriate for that patient. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or manufacturing quality, and they are not rated as therapeutically equivalent to any brand-name product. Risks associated with the underlying active ingredients, including everything described above, still apply.

About outcomes

Published clinical trials report average weight reductions over 68–72 weeks in adults with obesity or overweight: approximately 15% with semaglutide 2.4 mg (STEP 1, Wilding et al., NEJM 2021) and approximately 21% with tirzepatide 15 mg (SURMOUNT-1, Jastreboff et al., NEJM 2022). In both trials, all participants (including those on placebo) also received lifestyle intervention. These are trial averages, not predictions. Individual results vary substantially, some people do not respond, and weight regain after discontinuation is common and documented. Both trials studied FDA-approved branded products, not compounded preparations. Results from those trials should not be assumed to apply to a compounded medication.

This page is not medical advice

The information here is general and educational. It is not a substitute for a medical evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment by a licensed clinician, and no clinician-patient relationship is created by reading it or by submitting a form. Medication is prescribed only when a licensed clinician determines it is medically appropriate for you after an evaluation. Full prescribing information for any medication discussed is available from the manufacturer and will be reviewed with you.

Questions

Straight answers before you book

That is a clinical determination, and it is the actual purpose of the assessment. Clinicians generally consider factors including BMI, weight-related health conditions, your medical and family history, current medications, and lab findings. Some people are clearly appropriate candidates. Some have a thyroid, sleep, or medication issue that should be addressed first. Some should not take these medications at all. We will tell you which of those you are, in plain language, at the visit.

The honest answer is that it varies widely and nobody can promise you a number. What we can point to is published trial data: in STEP 1 (NEJM, 2021) adults on semaglutide 2.4 mg lost an average of about 15% of body weight over 68 weeks, and in SURMOUNT-1 (NEJM, 2022) adults on tirzepatide 15 mg lost an average of about 21% over 72 weeks. Both trials paired the medication with lifestyle intervention for every participant.

Those are averages across thousands of people. Your result depends on your starting physiology, the dose you tolerate, your protein and training habits, your sleep, and how long you stay on therapy. Individual results vary, and we will not quote you a target number to get you in the door.

For patients who qualify after their evaluation, we prescribe compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide, prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy. We do not dispense brand-name products.

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded preparations for safety, effectiveness, or manufacturing quality, and they are not rated as therapeutically equivalent to any brand-name product. Your prescriber will tell you exactly what is being prescribed, which pharmacy it comes from, the dosing schedule, the risks, and the cost before you start, and whether a compounded preparation is clinically appropriate for you at all.

The Alpha Performance Assessment is $497, paid at your visit. Nothing is due to book. The optional WatchPAT ONE home sleep study is an additional $297, paid on a follow-up call before the device ships.

We are a cash-pay practice and do not bill insurance. We provide itemized receipts suitable for HSA and FSA submission. Medication, if prescribed, is billed separately by your pharmacy; coverage for weight-management medication varies significantly by plan and many plans exclude it.

You don't need them to lose weight. You need them to know why it has been hard, whether a medication is safe for you, and what will happen when you come off it. Undiagnosed hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, low testosterone, anemia, vitamin D deficiency, and untreated sleep apnea all affect energy, appetite, training capacity, and body composition, and all of them are findable in a morning.

It also gives you a real baseline. When we repeat markers later, you can see what changed beyond the scale, including whether you are holding onto lean mass.

There is no universal answer, and any clinic that gives you one is guessing. Some people use a GLP-1 for a defined period and transition off with a structured taper. Others, particularly those with weight-related metabolic conditions, may be on therapy longer under continued clinical supervision.

What the evidence does show clearly is that weight regain after stopping is common. That is precisely why the clinical protocol we build with you covers protein intake, resistance training, sleep, and follow-up labs, the maintenance phase is discussed before you start, not after.

Our clinicians are licensed in Illinois, and we care for patients located in Illinois. We are not able to treat patients outside the state.

The assessment itself is performed at our Hinsdale office, and that is by design: the blood draw, the on-site same-day lab processing, body composition on the InBody 970 and grip strength all require you to be in the building. If you are in Illinois but a long drive from Hinsdale, call us first and we will walk you through exactly what the visit involves before you commit to a time.

It is optional. It is also, for a lot of patients, the most useful $297 they spend. Obstructive sleep apnea is common in adults carrying excess weight and frequently goes undiagnosed for years. Untreated, it is associated with poorer metabolic health, daytime fatigue, and reduced training capacity, all of which work against a weight-management plan.

The WatchPAT ONE is a single-night, at-home, FDA-cleared device. Results are typically available within 24 hours and are interpreted alongside your labs. A home sleep test is a screening tool; your clinician may still recommend an in-lab study depending on findings.

No. Purchasing or completing an assessment does not guarantee that you will receive a prescription, medication, or any particular treatment. All treatment decisions are made independently by the treating clinician based on your medical history, evaluation, diagnostic findings, clinical judgment, and applicable standards of care. If a medication is not appropriate for you, we will say so and tell you what we would do instead.
