“From the moment you walk into Alpha Refinery, the vibe is totally different — it feels more like a cigar lounge than a doctor's office or clinic. It's welcoming, private, and one-on-one. You don't feel like just another number. They really took the time to break everything down in a way that made sense. I love what Alpha Refinery is doing and highly recommend them.”
Peptide Therapy · Hinsdale, IL
Peptides Are Prescription Medicine.
Not Supplements.
Much of what is sold online as a peptide arrives labeled “for research use only,” with no prescriber, no purity testing and no one accountable for what is in the vial. Here, anything you are given follows an evaluation, comes through a licensed pharmacy, and is managed by a prescriber who read your bloodwork first.

What You Are Actually Buying
A Clinic.
Or A Website.
Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signals in the body. Whether one is appropriate for you, at what dose and alongside what else, is a clinical judgment. The online market skips all of that.
| Alpha Refinery | “Research Use Only” Online | |
|---|---|---|
| Before anything is given | A prescriber evaluates you first | No prescriber, no evaluation, no record |
| Where it comes from | A licensed pharmacy, under state and federal oversight | Contents not verified. You are trusting a label |
| The dose | Set to your labs and reviewed at follow-up | Guessed from a forum post |
| Interactions | Checked against everything you already take | Not checked |
| If something goes wrong | Someone is accountable, and reachable by phone | Nobody is accountable |
Alpha Refinery is certified by LegitScript, which audits healthcare merchants for regulatory compliance. In this category, that certification is worth checking for on any clinic you consider, including this one.
The process
Measure first.
Then decide.
-
Choose your time.
Pick a time below. Name, phone and email. Nothing is due to book, and the $497 is paid at your visit. A peptide is not a starting point. It is something a prescriber may reach for once the picture is clear.
-
The 90-minute assessment.
Blood drawn and run in our own lab while you are in the building, with body composition, grip strength, blood pressure and a full history, including everything you already take. Thyroid, metabolic, inflammatory and nutrient markers, not just hormones.
-
Results, the same visit.
Key findings walked through with you in the room. Where a deficiency or a treatable driver shows up, that is addressed first. It is usually simpler than anything that comes in a vial. You hear what we would and would not recommend, and why.
-
Prescribed only where appropriate.
If a peptide or injectable vitamin is clinically indicated, your prescriber explains what it is, what it is for, what it costs, the risks, and how long you would be on it, before you start. Labs are repeated, and it is stopped if it is not doing anything.
Far enough that your business stays yours.
Private & Discreet
No shared waiting room. Private parking. Nothing about why you are coming is asked online.

Straight About The Category
What You Should Know
Before You Start.
This is a category where the marketing runs well ahead of the medicine. Here is where things stand.
We prescribe where there is a clinical reason. Not otherwise.
Most peptides are not FDA-approved medicines. A small number of peptide medicines carry FDA approval for specific uses. Many compounds discussed in this space do not, and are prepared by compounding pharmacies. Compounded preparations are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or manufacturing quality. Your prescriber will tell you which category anything proposed for you falls into.
What is legally available changes. Regulatory status in this area moves, and what a compounding pharmacy may legally prepare can change. That is one more reason to be treated by a clinic that tracks it.
The evidence varies widely. Some peptide medicines have substantial clinical trial data. Others have far less, and much of what circulates online cites animal studies or small early work as if it were settled. We will tell you honestly which side of that line anything sits on.
This is not performance enhancement. We are not a source for compounds for physique or athletic performance. If that is what you are after, we are not the right practice and will say so at the visit.
Vitamins are not automatically harmless. Injected vitamins bypass the limits your gut puts on absorption. That is the point of them, and it is why dosing should follow a measurement. Several nutrients are harmful in excess.
As Seen On
“I'm 56 and I've been to other men's health clinics that either feel way too clinical or lean too heavy into the ‘bro’ vibe. Alpha Refinery is completely different. The team actually wanted to talk with me — not just run me through a checklist. My GP usually just tells me to ‘eat healthy and exercise,’ but here I was given real solutions, clear guidance, and a plan that makes sense for me.”

- You would rather skip the bloodwork
- You want a guaranteed outcome before anyone has measured anything

Before You Book.
What are peptides, in plain language?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the same building blocks proteins are made of, just far shorter. Your body already makes many of them, and they act as signals between cells.
That is why the category is interesting, and also why it is easy to oversell. A signal only helps if the system receiving it can respond, which is a clinical question, not a marketing one.
Are peptides legal, and are they FDA-approved?
Prescription peptide therapy from a licensed clinic and a licensed pharmacy is legal. That is different from the "research use only" vials sold online, which are not intended for human use.
A small number of peptide medicines carry FDA approval for specific uses. Many others do not and are prepared by compounding pharmacies. Compounded preparations are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or manufacturing quality. Your prescriber will tell you which category anything proposed for you falls into, before you start.
Why won't you list which peptides you offer?
Because what is appropriate is a clinical decision, and a menu invites people to arrive having already chosen. What you need depends on what your evaluation and bloodwork show, what else you take, and what you are trying to change.
Regulatory status in this area also shifts, and a page listing compounds goes out of date in a way that can mislead. Come in, be measured, and your prescriber will tell you exactly what they recommend and why.
How is this different from buying peptides online?
Online you get a vial, a label you are trusting, and a dose from a forum. There is no prescriber, no evaluation, no purity check, no interaction check, and nobody accountable if something goes wrong.
Here, a licensed prescriber evaluates you, anything dispensed comes from a licensed pharmacy, dosing follows your labs, and you are reviewed at follow-up. Alpha Refinery is certified by LegitScript, which audits healthcare merchants for regulatory compliance.
Do I need blood work first?
Yes, and not as a formality. Fatigue, poor recovery and changes in body composition can come from thyroid problems, low iron, poor sleep, insulin resistance and some common medications. If one of those is behind it, treating it is usually simpler than anything injectable.
Your blood is drawn and run in our own lab during the same visit, so the conversation happens with real numbers in the room.
What about vitamin injections? Are those different?
They are a separate thing and we treat them separately. Injecting a vitamin bypasses the limits your gut puts on absorption, which is the point, and also why dosing should follow a measurement. Several nutrients are harmful in excess.
So we test first. Where nothing is deficient, we will tell you that rather than sell you an injection.
Will I definitely be prescribed something?
No. Completing an assessment does not guarantee a prescription, a peptide, or any particular treatment. All treatment decisions are made independently by the treating clinician based on your history, evaluation, diagnostic findings and applicable standards of care.
Many men who come in asking about peptides leave with something simpler, because that is what their numbers pointed to.
What does it cost?
The Alpha Performance Assessment is $497, paid at your visit. Nothing is due to book. That visit determines whether peptide therapy is appropriate for you at all.
Medication, if prescribed, is billed separately by the pharmacy, and your prescriber will tell you the cost before you commit. We are cash-pay and do not bill insurance. Itemized receipts for HSA and FSA submission are provided.
